Where is Monkscowl Estate located?
Monkscowl Estate is situated on Annandale Road in Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Winelands. The estate is located between Alto Wines and Rust en Vrede, two of the region's well-known wine estates, and is within walking distance of Peter Falke wines.
What facilities are available on the estate?
Guests have access to a swimming pool, dam and boardwalk, vineyard walks, mountain views, WiFi, and parking. Monkscowl is a working vineyard estate with open spaces designed for quiet and privacy.
What restaurants and wine estates are nearby?
Several well-regarded restaurants are within close reach, including Rust en Vrede, Alto Restaurant, Ernie Els, Cavalli, Webersburg Bistro, and Toevlug. Multiple wine estates are in the immediate area, with Peter Falke accessible on foot.
Do you produce your own wine?
Yes. Monkscowl produces its own Cabernet Sauvignon, currently maturing in oak barrels on the estate. The wine is available from June, and guests can pre-order bottles ahead of their stay.
Why is the estate called Monkscowl?
The name comes from a mountain in the Drakensberg where owner Werner grew up. Settling in Stellenbosch felt like coming full circle, and the name reflects that connection between where his story began and where it continues.
